Data type coverage

A complete reference of every Shopify data type Recover can back up, restore, and clone between stores.

Knowing exactly what's protected helps you prepare for data loss, store migrations, and disaster recovery. Recover covers the core business data that keeps your Shopify store running — products, customers, orders, themes, and more. The table below shows every data type Recover backs up and whether it can be restored or cloned.

Products include title, description, vendor, status, product category, tags, product type, template suffix, SEO title, SEO description, handle, images (media), options, product metafields, and variants. Variants include image, title, price, compare-at price, cost per item, weight, SKU, barcode, inventory tracking, and variant metafields.

Orders are backed up and can be exported for reporting and record-keeping. Shopify limits updating existing orders, so Recover does not support restoring or cloning orders.

Recover automatically backs up metafields attached to products, variants, blogs, blog posts, smart collections, custom collections, and pages. Metafields for orders and customers can be included by request — contact support@massyve.tech to enable them.

Unsupported data types

The following items aren't currently backed up. Some are inaccessible due to Shopify API limitations, others are managed by third-party services, and some haven't been prioritized yet. This list changes over time as we expand coverage.

  • Store settings
  • Third-party apps
  • Reviews
  • Redirects
  • Coupons
  • Menus
  • Companies
  • Catalogs
  • Store analytics and reports

Third-party page builder apps

Page builder apps like PageFly, Shogun, and GemPages have partial coverage. Recover can back up data these apps store through Shopify's native data structures (such as pages, metafields, and themes), but data stored in the app's own external systems is not included. Contact the page builder's support team to confirm where your content is stored.

Request a new data type

We're continuously expanding the list of data types Recover supports. If you need coverage for a data type that isn't listed above, let us know at support@massyve.tech. Requests are prioritized based on customer demand and platform API availability.
